Dartmouth and Lake Sunapee Region
The Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee region spans from Bradford northwest along interstate 89 to Lebanon at the Vermont border. The Connecticut River borders this region on the western part of the state. In years past, this river was the means of transport for getting goods to market. Cities in this region include Dartmouth, Lebanon, West Lebanon, Hanover, and Enfield to name a few. This “Upper Valley” region is known for its beautiful views and clear lakes. It is home of the Ivy League school “Dartmouth College” and a historical site Fort at #4, a fort of defense during the French and Indian Wars located in Charlestown. The shores of gorgeous Lake Sunapee are known to be the home of a number of celebrities including Steve Tyler of Aerosmith. Take a beautiful scenic ride along a 27 mile stretch of 12A from North Charlestown to West Lebanon or travel along 103 and 11 from Newbury to New London to view the beautiful Lake Sunapee. Both byways are sure to please.
